Teaching I Timothy 1:15 "This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief." Right in the middle of the verse is the crux of Christianity, "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners." Matthew 1:21 has the same intent, "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." Same intent and the purpose clear why God sent His One and Only Son into the world to save people from their sins. Paul wrote he was the chief sinner! We are too! "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23!
